MSP Incident Response Plan Template 2026

An incident at one client is a bad day. An incident in your RMM is a bad day for every client. This free, fully brandable IR plan template is built for how MSPs respond: across client environments, within each client's authorization, on a cadence clients can count on.

What's Inside

01
Shared Responsibility, Spelled Out

A ready-made matrix showing who owns what across your team, your clients, and your security vendor or MDR, from containment to regulatory notification. Settle it at onboarding so nobody debates it mid-incident.

02
Authorized Actions by Service Tier

Define which response actions each service tier pre-approves, so analysts can isolate a host or disable an account without chasing a signature. Includes a reusable Client IR Profile for every client.

03
Client Communication That Runs on a Clock

Client notification SLAs, update cadence by severity, a six-part status update format, and ready-to-send templates for declaration, status, and closure notices.

04
Ready for Multi-Client Incidents

Guidance for when your own tooling is the target, cross-client threat hunting for the same indicators, and a 2026 compliance reference covering SEC, HIPAA, CIRCIA, NIS2, DORA, and more, including where to report.
